Jewel Door ("we", "us") provides a jewellery rental app used by shop owners and their customers. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how it is protected.
Information we collect
- Account details: name, mobile number, email (optional), and a password (stored only as a one-way hash, never in plain text).
- Profile information: a profile photo, and for makeup artist accounts, business name, experience, and a short bio.
- Address: delivery address(es) you add, used to deliver and collect rented jewellery.
- Booking information: the jewellery you rent, function and return dates, and booking status.
- Payment information: payments are processed by our payment partner, PayU. We do not receive or store your card, UPI, or bank details — PayU shares with us only the payment status and a transaction reference.
- Verification codes: one-time passcodes (OTP) sent to your mobile number or email to verify it's really you, during sign-up, sign-in, or password reset.
How we use this information
- To create and manage your account, and let you sign in securely.
- To process jewellery rental bookings, deliveries, returns, and payments.
- To send booking confirmations, delivery/return reminders, and payment receipts.
- To let the shop you're renting from see your booking history and contact details, so they can fulfil your order.
Who can see your information
Each shop on Jewel Door only sees the customers and bookings that belong to that shop — shops cannot see each other's data. Jewel Door's platform administrators can access shop data only to provide support, and this access is recorded in an audit log.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and booking information for as long as your account is active, and as needed to meet our legal and accounting obligations. To request deletion of your account and personal data, contact the shop you registered with, or write to us using the contact details below.
Security
Passwords are stored as irreversible hashes. Sign-in uses one-time passcodes in addition to your password for shop staff and platform administrators. We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) to protect data in transit.
